Cadi Ayyad University (UCA) organized UCA Innovation Week 2026, an event dedicated to promoting research, innovation, and knowledge transfer by bringing together researchers, students, and socio-economic stakeholders. The initiative aimed to highlight innovative projects, strengthen collaboration between academia and industry, and showcase scientific advances addressing current societal and environmental challenges.
As part of this event, Prof. Guendouz and Aboudia team participated through the presentation of two scientific posters. The first poster presented Doha Quebouch’s PhD research work, while the second featured a PLAMINPCK project presentation, with a few minor updates made for the occasion.
Our latest paper, “Hesperidin-enriched extracts for active food packaging from tangerine agro-industrial by-products using subcritical water extraction and resin purification,” has just been published!
Developed in the PLAMINPACK project, this work highlights a sustainable approach to valorizing tangerine by-products by extracting bioactive compounds for use in active food packaging—bringing us one step closer to more circular and eco-friendly solutions in the food industry.
On March 25, a webinar titled “From Agro-Food Waste to Sustainable Solutions” was held, featuring the projects PLAMINPACK, FoWRSaP, and Oli4Food. The session explored the broader framework of the topic, highlighted ongoing project developments, and discussed future perspectives in transforming agro-food waste into sustainable solution

The 18-month PLAMINPACK project meeting was held on January 15, 2026, at the University of Hohenheim. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the achievements of the first reporting period across the project’s work packages.
On January 14, 2026, the first consortium meeting with industry partners took place at the University of Hohenheim and online in the afternoon. The organizers from the University of Hohenheim—Prof. Christian Krupitzer and Dr. Julia Senge—as well as the participants from numerous countries are warmly thanked for their valuable contributions to the success of this initiative.
Today, the Department of Civil and Industrial Engineering at the University of Pisa hosted a training session entitled “The PRIMA Programme for Supporting the Mediterranean Area: Research on Sustainable Practices.”

Today, Viola Berrugi, a Master’s student in Materials and Nanotechnology, defended her Master’s thesis entitled “Biopolymer–vegetable residue composites for the production of biodegradable food packaging,” developed within the PLAMINPACK project.
